Bihar Assembly Election: NDA Leads, INDIA Bloc Trails

PATNA, Nov 14: The ruling National Democratic Alliance (NDA) has taken a commanding lead in the early trends of the Bihar Assembly election counting, securing leads in 166 seats, according to the latest figures from the Election Commission. This count far exceeds the majority mark of 122 seats needed to form the government.

The opposition coalition, known as the INDIA bloc, finds itself significantly behind, showing leads in only 59 of the total 243 seats contested. Election officials indicate that these figures may still change as multiple rounds of counting remain pending.

Among the constituents of the NDA, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leads in 72 seats, the Janata Dal (United) (JD(U)) follows closely with 71 seats, while the Lok Janshakti Party (Rashtriya) (LJP (RV)) has secured 18 seats. Additionally, Hindustani Awam Morcha (Secular) (HAM(S)) leads in four, and the Rashtriya Loktantrik Party (RLM) is in the lead for one seat.

On the other end, the INDIA bloc comprises various parties, with the Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) leading in 43 seats. The Congress party trails with leads in eight seats, while the Communist Party of India (Marxist–Leninist) Liberation (CPI(ML)-Liberation) leads in six. The CPI and the Communist Party of India (Marxist) lead in one seat each.

Notably, the Jan Suraaj Party, led by Prashant Kishor, along with Mukesh Sahani’s Vikassheel Insaan Party (VIP), currently trails in all constituencies they contested.

Looking at key candidates, RJD’s Khesari Lal Yadav is presently trailing in the Chhapra constituency. In contrast, BJP’s Maithili Thakur shows strong performance leading in Alinagar. Osama Shahab from the RJD holds a lead in Ragunathpur, while JD(U) minister Leshi Singh outperforms others in Dhamdaha.

Additionally, the INDIA bloc’s Chief Ministerial face, Tejashwi Yadav, leads in the Raghopur constituency, notably supported by Deputy Chief Ministers Samrat Choudhary in Tarapur and Vijay Kumar Sinha in Lakhisarai, who are also currently leading their respective constituencies.

However, in Mahua, Tej Pratap Yadav finds himself in fourth place, with LJP(RV)’s Sanjay Kumar Singh leading the race.
